Motorcycle team management · browser

IMoto

IMoto is the outlier on our grid: two wheels instead of four, a small community, and a rulebook written by people who clearly enjoy arguing about tyre and engine affinity.

Overview · IMoto

What it is

IMoto describes itself as a browser management game set in the world of motorcycle road racing. You are the team manager: you sign riders, sponsors and suppliers, choose equipment and tactics, and try to lead your team and riders to the top. Classes are named by engine size — 1000 cc, 900 cc, 800 cc and on down.

The game is Italian at heart. The English pages read like a rough translation in places, and when something is unclear, the Italian rules are the reference.

How a race weekend works

You field one or two official riders, and once a season you can use a wild card to enter three. Riders come from a rider market. Before each race, the testing page shows the next circuit: you choose a rider to test with and work on the setup. Test lap times don’t count for anything; they exist to find the right setup, tyres and fuel load.

The nice touch is rider feedback. During tests a rider may tell you what is wrong with the bike, and the more sensitive and experienced the rider, the more often that happens. You can replace parts, but every change costs money and can make things worse if the balance between engine, chassis, tyres and rider is already good.

Qualifying then runs automatically with the setup you chose, and you pick the tactics for the race. The rules also cover wet qualifying and races, a youth championship, endurance events and promotional competitions.

Budget and sponsors

You start each career with a set budget in game currency. After every race you receive two sponsorship proposals and choose one before the next race; if you don’t, the one with the longer term is accepted automatically. At the end of the championship, teams receive in-game rewards according to their standings in their class. Overspend and the rules have a page on bankruptcy.

Why bikes feel different here

Most of our grid runs four-wheeled single-seaters. IMoto’s choices — one or two riders, engine classes rather than formulas, the affinity between rider, tyres and frame — make it feel closer to a paddock workshop than a corporate pit wall. It is a smaller, quieter game, and that is part of its appeal.

How much time it asks

IMoto expects you to show up. The registration rules say accounts that never log in within 15 days of signing up are removed, and so are teams inactive for 60 days, with exceptions for the top classes. Our read: a short regular check-in is enough, with a bit more time around testing. The site also notes the administrator may suspend or end the game at their discretion — fair warning for a hobby-scale project.

What’s free and what isn’t, and where to play

Sign-up is by email and we found no paid tier described on the public pages. IMoto runs in a browser and offers Italian, English, Spanish, French and German.
