Fuel money
Every team needs a budget, even a small desk. This is the full sponsor board: what can pay for our fuel, and what never will.
Partner commissions
Some publishers run partner programmes for sign-ups. If the pit-exit button on a review is connected to one of these and a reader creates an account after using it, the publisher may pay the desk a commission. The reader is charged nothing extra, and the game keeps its usual terms and prices.
What stays off the sponsor board
- A review, a verdict or a higher starting position on the grid, in exchange for money or free items.
- A recommendation bought by a partner programme: a game we would tell a friend to skip gets the same advice from us whether or not it pays for sign-ups.
- Softer wording in the Losses column.
Spotting a partner link
The pit-exit buttons that lead to a game’s site have a short note beneath them flagging a possible partner link, and in the HTML they carry rel="sponsored". The source links listed under each review, and links between our own pages, are never partner links.
Advertising and cooperation
Ideas for advertising or working together can be sent to hello@slipstreamdesk.com. We read each one and turn down anything that would mean paying for a verdict.
More of our rules are on the disclaimer and how we review pages.
